Economy: Apothecary

Knowledge can be as valuable as steel. The Apothecary transforms nature's ingredients into medicines that help civilization recover, endure and survive.

Knowledge can be as valuable as steel. The Apothecary transforms nature's ingredients into medicines that help civilization recover, endure and survive.

Previous industries harvested Herbs, Berries and other natural resources.

The Apothecary transforms them into practical medicines and medical supplies.

Unlike the future Healer profession, the Apothecary manufactures medicine rather than treating patients. Knowledge, careful preparation and dependable materials—not fantasy or magic—give the profession its value.

Medicine becomes another essential branch of the kingdom's economy.

The Apothecary

The Apothecary works at an Apothecary, where gathered, refined and brewed ingredients become a focused collection of recovery goods.

The profession uses:

  • Herbs
  • Berries
  • Salt
  • Sulfur
  • Beeswax
  • Ale
  • Wine

From those materials, the Apothecary produces:

  • Healing Potions
  • Stamina Potions
  • Antidotes
  • Small Bandages
  • Medium Bandages
  • Large Bandages
  • Medical Kits

The Apothecary intentionally focuses on practical medicine. Its work is grounded in preservation, extraction, solvents, ointments, clean supplies and accumulated knowledge rather than supernatural cures or an endless catalogue of invented remedies.

The illustration carries the full production flow. Each branch gives an established resource a new purpose without replacing the industries that gathered, refined or brewed it.

Medicines

The Apothecary's initial catalogue supports several distinct forms of recovery.

Healing Potions restore Health immediately, giving prepared medicine a clear role when recovery cannot wait.

Stamina Potions restore Stamina or improve Stamina recovery, helping people regain the strength demanded by work, travel and hardship.

Antidotes remove Poison effects. The kingdom uses one unified Poison system: poison and venom do not become separate treatment categories.

Bandages restore Health over time and exist in three quality tiers: Small, Medium and Large. Better Bandages represent more materials and more substantial treatment while remaining the consumable medical resource.

Medical Kits are reusable professional equipment required by future healing gameplay. The Kit enables treatment without disappearing after use; Bandages provide the supplies that are consumed.

Together, these products establish the purpose of medical crafting without assigning numerical values or turning the Apothecary into the Healer who may later use those supplies.

Nature Becomes Medicine

Every ingredient contributes a practical quality to the Apothecary's work.

Herbs form the foundation of medicinal preparation.

Berries provide restorative extracts.

Salt supports preparation and preservation.

Sulfur contributes medicinal compounds and chemical preparation.

Beeswax forms the basis of ointments, salves and other medical preparations.

Ale and Wine act as medicinal solvents and preservation liquids.

The Apothecary gives these resources permanent value beyond their original production chains. Foragers, mines, Refineries and Breweries all contribute to a profession whose finished goods remain useful wherever people work, travel and face danger.

Recovery & Civilization

Food keeps people alive. Medicine helps them recover.

The Apothecary therefore complements the Cooking profession rather than replacing it. Meals sustain everyday survival; medicines and medical supplies answer injury, exhaustion and Poison when ordinary nourishment is not enough.

Many future Healers will naturally choose Apothecary as a crafting profession because it allows them to manufacture the supplies they later use. Yet the two systems remain independent. The Apothecary creates medicines and equipment; future Healer gameplay will define how trained practitioners treat patients.

This relationship lets medical crafting support future healing without requiring every Apothecary to become a Healer or every Healer to manufacture supplies.
