Every settlement begins as a plan. The Mason transforms refined construction materials into the blueprints from which civilization itself is built.
Previous industries produced the construction materials from which civilization can rise.
The Mason brings them together.
Unlike every other crafting profession, the Mason does not primarily manufacture everyday objects. Instead, the Mason creates the Building Blueprints that allow the world itself to grow.
Every home, Workshop and monument begins as materials gathered across the kingdom. Inside the Mason's Workshop, those materials become a plan ready to take its place in the world.
The Mason
The Mason works at the Mason's Workshop, where the work of several industries converges.
The Workshop uses:
- Wooden Beams
- Wooden Boards
- Cut Stone
- Cut Granite
- Cut Marble
- Bricks
- Iron, Bronze or Steel Ingots
Every Building Blueprint is crafted individually. A House B1 Blueprint, for example, is one complete crafted item rather than one part of a larger batch. Each Blueprint possesses its own material requirements, ensuring that different structures make different demands upon the economy.
The selected construction metal determines the finished building's quality. This choice becomes a permanent part of the Blueprint and travels with it into the world.
The complete chain shown here gives every earlier construction industry a clear destination. The Mason's role is to unite their work in one placeable plan.
Building Blueprints
The Blueprint system is universal. Every permanent constructible object in The City of Gold requires its own Blueprint.
That principle reaches across every part of civilization:
- Residential Blueprints establish homes and places of hospitality.
- Production Blueprints establish farms, resource sites and industrial Workshops.
- Government Blueprints establish the seats and instruments of civic authority.
- Religious Blueprints establish every current and future church type.
- Institution Blueprints establish the physical homes of guilds, universities, orders and future organizations.
- Infrastructure Blueprints establish bridges and future permanent public works.
- Crafting Station Blueprints establish the stations where professions perform their work.
Once crafted, a Blueprint becomes a placeable object in the world. Players do not construct a finished building directly. They gather the required materials, craft its Blueprint and place that plan where the structure will stand.
The Blueprint already represents complete architectural planning and assembly. Doors, windows, roofs and similar details remain elegantly abstracted inside it rather than becoming separate crafted objects.
Building Quality
The construction metal selected during Blueprint creation determines the completed building's maximum Building HP.
Iron provides Base Building HP.
Bronze provides Higher Building HP.
Steel provides Highest Building HP.
This choice affects the durability of the finished building, not the speed at which its Blueprint is crafted. The selected metal remains permanently associated with the Blueprint, and the placed building inherits that maximum HP.
Building HP becomes the foundation of the future maintenance system. Buildings will endure use, weather, time and the dangers that face a living kingdom. Maintenance restores their condition by consuming real construction materials.
This creates meaningful long-term demand. Resources are not removed arbitrarily; they are spent preserving the homes, industries, institutions and infrastructure that give civilization its shape. Exact balancing values remain future work, but the philosophy is clear: stronger materials create more durable buildings, and lasting settlements require care.
Shaping Civilization
The Mason is where every previous construction profession comes together.
The Sawyer prepares timber. The Carpenter refines that timber into Wooden Beams and Wooden Boards. The Stonecutter prepares masonry. The Blacksmith supplies metal.
The Mason transforms all of these contributions into the Blueprints that shape the kingdom.
Unlike other professions, the Mason crafts the physical world itself. Each Blueprint carries the work of gatherers, processors and advanced craftsmen toward its final purpose: a permanent place in civilization.
The Blueprint system represents one of the kingdom's most important production chains.
Previous professions create materials. The Mason transforms those materials into civilization.
Every home, Workshop, church, bridge and castle begins inside the Mason's Workshop before taking its place in the world.
The next Economy article will continue introducing another advanced crafting profession—without revealing which profession comes next.
