Economy: Tailoring

Leather, linen and fur become the clothing and equipment that protect, equip and accompany everyday life throughout the kingdom.

Leather, linen and fur become the clothing and equipment that protect, equip and accompany everyday life throughout the kingdom.

Previous industries prepared Leather, Linen and Prepared Fur.

The Tailor transforms those refined materials into finished wearable goods.

Unlike the Tannery, which prepares raw materials, the Tailor equips civilization itself. Tailoring represents one of the kingdom's core advanced crafting professions, carrying the work of livestock keepers, hunters, foragers and Tanners into everyday life.

The Tailor

The Tailor works at the Tailor's Workshop, where three refined materials become a focused catalogue of clothing and personal equipment.

The Workshop uses:

  • Leather
  • Linen
  • Prepared Fur

Its current Clothing collection contains:

  • Shirts
  • Trousers
  • Cloaks
  • Hoods

Its current Equipment collection contains:

  • Boots
  • Gloves
  • Belts
  • Bags

Tailoring intentionally focuses on practical equipment rather than hundreds of cosmetic variations. Every product has a recognizable place in ordinary life, and every material enters a production chain with a clear purpose.

The illustration carries the complete production flow. What begins in the Leather & Textiles industry leaves the Tailor's Workshop ready for Players, Commoners and the wider civilization they share.

Clothing Civilization

Each material contributes a different character to the Tailor's work.

Leather creates durable equipment. It is the primary material behind Boots, Gloves, Belts and Bags—the practical goods that endure work, travel and daily use.

Linen creates everyday clothing. Shirts, Trousers, Hoods and Standard Cloaks give people the ordinary garments needed across homes, workplaces and Settlements.

Prepared Fur upgrades clothing into premium versions. A Fur Cloak or Fur Hood represents finer materials and higher-quality craftsmanship, but Fur enhances an existing garment rather than introducing a separate clothing category.

Shirts and Trousers form the foundation of everyday dress. Cloaks and Hoods offer protection for travel and changing weather. Boots and Gloves protect people through labor and long journeys. Belts secure clothing and carried necessities, while Bags accompany work, commerce and travel.

Together, these eight products establish the Tailor's complete initial catalogue without turning clothing into an endless list of cosmetic variations.

Everyday Life

Tailoring serves both Players and Commoners.

Every thriving Settlement depends upon clothing, travel equipment and practical goods. Farmers, merchants, craftsmen, travelers and rulers may lead very different lives, but all depend upon the work that turns prepared textiles into something wearable and useful.

The Tailor equips ordinary life in the same way that the Blacksmith equips industry and war. The Blacksmith places tools in workers' hands and arms in the hands of soldiers. The Tailor clothes the people who use them.

This makes Tailoring more than a finishing trade. It creates lasting demand for Leather, Linen and Prepared Fur while ensuring that the Leather & Textiles industry remains connected to the people living throughout the kingdom.

Tailoring completes another major branch of the economy.

Previous industries prepared raw materials. The Tailor transforms them into the clothing and equipment that people use every day.

From a Commoner's Shirt to a traveler's Boots, from a merchant's Bag to a finely crafted Fur Cloak, the Tailor equips civilization one practical good at a time.

The next Economy article will continue introducing another advanced crafting profession—without revealing which profession comes next.
