Religion Guide
Religion Basics
Faith, affiliation and the difference between Religions, Institutions and Buildings.Agnostic is the permanent built-in spiritually unaffiliated state. Every new Character begins Agnostic unless an authoritative transition establishes another affiliation.
Link to this answerNo. Agnostic has no founder, hierarchy, clergy, Canon Law, Religious Institutions or organized-Religion Blessing. It never becomes Extinct.
Link to this answerYes. Joining an organized Religion is optional. Remaining Agnostic means forgoing organized-Religion affiliation and its Altar Blessings.
Link to this answerReligion V1 provides affiliation, public doctrine, configurable religious authority, ceremonies, consecrated religious Buildings and a selectable three-effect Blessing package. Finalized rules may still require runtime adoption before every workflow is playable.
Link to this answerYes. An Active organized Religion may directly own consecrated Chapels, Churches, Great Churches and Cathedrals. That property ownership grants no territory, citizenship, taxation or Justice jurisdiction.
Link to this answerNo. Religion is the faith and affiliation domain. A Religious Institution is a separate player organization permanently linked to one Religion. A religious Building is a physical world object; none of these three concepts should be collapsed together.
Link to this answerYes. Religious Institutions are optional organizations. A Religion may be Active, gain followers and own consecrated religious Buildings without one.
Link to this answerYes. Institution identity and membership do not require a physical religious Building. Its members must still follow the linked Religion.

Founding a Religion
Petitions, activation, governance and the founding religious hierarchy. An eligible Character creates a founding Petition that records the proposed Religion's identity, governance, Scripture, Canon Law, hierarchy and sacred-symbol submission. The Petition is not yet an Active Religion.
Link to this answerActivation requires 100 unique eligible Character signatories. Duplicate Characters and ineligible signatures do not satisfy the threshold.
Link to this answerYes. The founding sacred symbol must be Approved as well as having 100 eligible signatories before activation can commit.
Link to this answerThe Petition becomes an Active organized Religion, the founder receives the constitutional top authority, and the founder becomes affiliated with the Religion. Activation is an authoritative one-time transition.
Link to this answerNo. One hundred signatories is a founding-only threshold. An Active Religion remains Active at 99, 50, 10 or one current living follower.
Link to this answerThe founder establishes public identity, governance, Holy Scripture, Canon Law, sacred presentation and two to ten ordered ranks with custom names, descriptions and permission selections.
Link to this answerGovernance establishes whether top constitutional authority is presented through a Supreme Leader or Council of Elders model. It does not turn thematic titles into permissions or merge Religion authority with an Institution.
Link to this answerCanon Law is the Religion's founding rules package. It includes declarations such as the joining mode and apostasy classification as well as the configured hierarchy and permissions.
Link to this answerHoly Scripture is the Religion's canonical long-form doctrine and belief text. Editing it requires the appropriate Religion authority; its wording does not create unlisted gameplay powers.

Joining & Leaving
The Agnostic gateway, Join Requests and voluntary departure.No. There is no standalone voluntary Religion-to-Religion conversion. The ordinary path is Leave Religion A, become Agnostic, then use Religion B's Join process.
Link to this answerOnly a currently Agnostic Character may enter the ordinary Join workflow. A current organized-Religion follower must leave first.
Link to this answerOne unresolved Join Request at most. A Character cannot apply to several organized Religions at the same time.
Link to this answerNo. A request remains pending until completed, rejected, withdrawn by the applicant, or closed by an authoritative eligibility or lifecycle change.
Link to this answerYes, at any time before completion. Applicant withdrawal creates no penalty or cooldown, so an Agnostic Character may immediately make another valid request.
Link to this answerThe Character cannot apply to that same Religion again for one real-world week. The pair-specific cooldown does not block an application to a different Religion.
Link to this answerAn Agnostic Character submits a Join Request. A currently authorized Religion follower may accept it remotely, completing affiliation without a physical ceremony.
Link to this answerThe same Join Request is submitted, but remote approval cannot complete it. An authorized joining ceremony must be completed in a valid Building consecrated to that Religion.
Link to this answerYes. At effective Marriage, the Joining Spouse moves to the Marriage Head's governing organized Religion under the Family/Religion transaction. This special consequence is not a general voluntary conversion command.
Link to this answerYes. Canon Law cannot mechanically prevent voluntary Leave, even when the Character is the top authority, a rank holder or a local religious-Building manager.
Link to this answerThe Character becomes Agnostic, loses Religion-derived rank, office, Building and Communication authority, and immediately loses any active Blessing granted by that Religion. Governance reconciles any vacancy.
Link to this answerNo. There is no minimum Agnostic waiting period before requesting a different organized Religion.
Link to this answerNormal voluntary departure creates a 30-real-world-day cooldown before rejoining that same Religion. Excommunication and Heresy impose stronger status-based restrictions.
Link to this answerReligion Guide
Apostasy & Restoration
Departure classifications, Religion-relative status and eligibility restoration.A Religion's Canon Law classifies voluntary departure as Peaceful Departure, Excommunication or Heresy. Every classification still permits the Character to leave freely and become Agnostic.
Link to this answerIt is ordinary free Leave with no additional apostasy status. The Character becomes Agnostic and the normal 30-real-world-day same-Religion rejoin cooldown applies.
Link to this answerThe Character leaves freely and becomes Agnostic, but is marked Excommunicated relative to that Religion and cannot rejoin it until Excommunication is lifted. Waiting 30 days is not enough.
Link to this answerThe Character leaves freely, becomes Agnostic and is marked Heretic relative to that Religion. They cannot rejoin it until pardoned, and followers of that Religion receive a clear Heretic marker.
Link to this answerNo. Neither status automatically authorizes attack, imprisonment, fines, exile, seizure, Justice punishment, Warfare or religious violence. Ordinary Justice and Warfare rules remain authoritative.
Link to this answerAn authorized ceremony removes the Religion-relative Heretic status and its rejoin bar. It restores eligibility to seek entry; it does not automatically make the Character a follower.
Link to this answerAn authorized ceremony removes the Religion-relative Excommunicated status and its rejoin bar. It restores Join eligibility without creating affiliation.
Link to this answerYes. A Heretic or Excommunicated target may be Agnostic or follow another Religion. Ceremony-specific eligibility applies rather than a universal follower-only target rule.
Link to this answerYou must be Agnostic and complete the normal Join flow. If you follow another Religion, leave it first. The Religion's Immediate Acceptance or Religious Ceremony Required mode still applies.

Ranks & Permissions
Custom clergy presentation and the authority behind it.Between two and ten ordered configured ranks: one required top rank, one required bottom Followers rank and up to eight intermediate ranks.
Link to this answerYes. Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Prophet, Cleric, Temple Keeper and similar names may be used as custom Religion-rank titles.
Link to this answerThe configured top rank automatically receives the complete canonical Religion permission catalogue. Lower ranks may receive permitted subsets.
Link to this answerFollowers is the required bottom configured rank and defaults to no permissions. Following the Religion alone does not automatically grant Building Access or management.
Link to this answerThe finalized target catalogue contains 26 permissions. The current founding implementation persists 21, so the five newest permissions remain an explicit Website and Platform adoption gap.
Link to this answerIt permits access or use of Religion-restricted religious Buildings according to their access rules. It grants no ownership, Inventory management, Local Manager appointment, ceremony authority or Blessing configuration.
Link to this answerIt grants Religion-wide management authority across all consecrated religious Buildings owned by that Religion, including local names, Inventory, doors/access and Local Manager appointments.
Link to this answerIt selects or reconfigures the Religion-wide Blessing package subject to its cooldown. It does not by itself authorize setting an individual Altar price.
Link to this answerA current follower whose authoritative Religion rank grants Pardon Heretics may perform the ceremony in a valid matching consecrated Building.
Link to this answerA current follower whose authoritative Religion rank grants Lift Excommunications may perform that restorative ceremony in a valid matching consecrated Building.

Religious Institutions
How an affiliated organization remains separate from its Religion. It permanently references exactly one Active organized Religion. Its founder and every active member must currently follow that exact Religion.
Link to this answerThe Institution immediately ends active membership and rank tenure, removes authority, reconciles leadership and Communication, and preserves the historical facts.
Link to this answerYes. Eligibility removal is not a permanent Institution ban. After legitimately rejoining the linked Religion, the Character may use the Institution's normal application or invitation process; membership is not restored automatically.
Link to this answerNo. They are independent hierarchies with independent memberships, permissions and histories. The same Character may hold different authority in each.
Link to this answerNo. The identical player-facing idea is evaluated in its owning domain. Institution membership cannot satisfy Religion Building Access, and Religion rank cannot satisfy Institution Building Access.
Link to this answerReligion Guide
Religious Buildings
The four physical Building types and their shared world rules.Exactly four: Chapel, Church, Great Church and Cathedral.
Link to this answerYes. Each is a distinct permanent Building definition with its own crafted Blueprint.
Link to this answerNo. Buildings do not upgrade into other types. Changing type requires the normal demolition and new-construction lifecycle.
Link to this answerNo. They may appear as custom names, historical language or future ideas, but they are not additional V1 religious Building definitions.
Link to this answerOnly inside the established boundary of an existing Town, even while privately owned and unconsecrated. Normal land, authority, collision and placement rules also apply.
Link to this answerNo special Religion or territorial approval is added. Any Character who can legally place the appropriate Blueprint under normal Building rules may construct it inside a Town.
Link to this answerNo. Once validly consecrated, all four sizes support every official Religion ceremony. Size affects Blessing strength and duration only.
Link to this answerNo. They retain Blueprint-derived HP, may take valid damage, collapse at zero HP and follow the normal destruction and Loot Chest lifecycle.
Link to this answerNo. Consecration exempts scheduled weekly maintenance only. Direct, attack or other actual damage requires the normal original-construction-material repair cost.
Link to this answerReligion Guide
Consecration & Ownership
How a private structure becomes permanent Religion property.No. It begins Unconsecrated under its normal private/current owner, with normal taxes and maintenance and no official Religion venue, access, management or Blessing function.
Link to this answerIts current authorized owner deliberately consecrates the unconsecrated Building to exactly one Active organized Religion. Agnostic, Petition and Extinct targets are invalid.
Link to this answerNo. The current owner may donate and consecrate the valid Building unilaterally. The receiving Religion's acceptance is not required.
Link to this answerThe Religion directly owns it. The former owner loses possession and inherent owner authority; it is not a lease or temporary manager appointment.
Link to this answerEvery item, material and Coin in the Building's Universal Building Inventory remains with the Building and transfers under Religion ownership. The owner must receive a clear irreversible warning.
Link to this answerNot while its owning Religion remains Active. Consecration is permanent during that Active lifecycle; Extinction and later municipal reconsecration are the explicit exception.
Link to this answerNo. A valid consecrated religious Building owned by an Active Religion is automatically fully exempt. Normal tax applies before consecration and returns after deconsecration.
Link to this answerIt consumes zero scheduled weekly maintenance materials, loses no HP for an exempt weekly obligation and accumulates no maintenance debt. Normal maintenance resumes prospectively after deconsecration.
Link to this answerNo. The owner is the Religion. The current top authority manages on its behalf and loses inherent authority when that office changes.
Link to this answerReligion Guide
Local Building Management
Religion-wide authority, one-Building delegation and shared storage.Manage Religious Buildings applies across every consecrated Building of the Religion. Local Manager is a delegated appointment for one specific Building.
Link to this answerAny current follower of the owning Religion may be appointed. Their rank does not need Manage Religious Buildings because the appointment itself grants local authority.
Link to this answerOne at most. Religion-wide rank authority is separate and is not constrained by this Local Manager limit.
Link to this answerFor their one Building they may edit its local/public name, manage its Universal Building Inventory and control its doors/access.
Link to this answerImmediately upon removal or replacement, loss of Religion affiliation, other ineligibility, death, or the Building losing that Religion's ownership/consecration. Cached client state cannot preserve authority.
Link to this answerNo. Joining, marriage, divorce, Pardon and Lift authority comes only from the relevant configured Religion-rank permission.
Link to this answerNo. The Religion remains owner. Local Manager is a revocable Building-specific authority, not a Religion rank, constitutional office or property title.
Link to this answerYes. Authorized managers may edit a Building-local name such as Church of St. James. This does not rename the Religion, Blueprint, Town or physical Building type.
Link to this answerNo. Every Building has one Universal Building Inventory containing items, materials and currency. There is no separate Building Treasury.
Link to this answerA successful fee enters that individual religious Building's Universal Building Inventory. Local Manager Inventory authority comes from the valid appointment.
Link to this answerReligion Guide
Religious Ceremonies
Permission, venue and target rules for official religious acts.Inside a valid consecrated religious Building belonging to the same Religion. Religion A cannot conduct its official ceremony inside Religion B's Building.
Link to this answerNo. Ceremony authority and Building management are independent. A permitted performer may act in a valid venue without being Local Manager.
Link to this answerA current follower with Conduct Joining Ceremonies may complete an eligible Agnostic applicant's ceremony in a matching consecrated Building when Canon Law requires it.
Link to this answerA current follower whose Religion rank grants Validate Marriage Contracts may perform the Religion-owned validation under the established Family and venue rules.
Link to this answerA current follower whose Religion rank grants Approve Religious Divorces may perform that authorized religious action under its canonical eligibility and venue rules.
Link to this answerIn a valid Building consecrated to the Religion that owns the Heretic or Excommunicated status, by a follower holding the matching permission.
Link to this answerYes when the ceremony logically requires it: joining targets an Agnostic applicant, while Pardon and Lift naturally target non-followers. Each ceremony applies its own eligibility.
Link to this answerNo. Standard ceremony payment is player-managed roleplay/economy. The system defines no automatic ceremony price, collection, clergy wage or deposit. This is separate from mandatory Altar Blessing fees.
Link to this answerReligion Guide
Blessings & Altars
Religion packages, paid acquisition, replacement and tier scaling.Yes. Chapel, Church, Great Church and Cathedral each include an Altar interaction. It is not a separate placeable Blueprint.
Link to this answerNo. The eligible Character must explicitly interact with its active Altar and complete payment. Proximity, Town presence or affiliation alone grants nothing.
Link to this answerNo. The standard Altar interaction requires no Priest, Local Manager, Leader or ceremony performer to be present.
Link to this answerOnly a current follower whose authoritative Religion exactly matches the Building's consecrated Religion.
Link to this answerNo. Agnostic is the unaffiliated baseline and has no organized-Religion Blessing equivalent.
Link to this answerNo. Cross-Religion Blessing shopping is prohibited; the affiliation and consecration must match.
Link to this answerNo. Each consecrated religious Building sets its own Copper-denominated fee. Valid Copper, Silver or Gold combinations use the canonical County exchange rate.
Link to this answerThat Building's Local Manager, a follower with Religion-wide Manage Religious Buildings, or the current top authority. Manage Blessing alone does not grant price authority.
Link to this answerNo. An eligible follower may purchase a new one whenever desired, subject to the fee and current authoritative validation.
Link to this answerNo. A Character has one active organized-Religion Blessing. A successful new acquisition completely replaces the previous package, strength, duration and expiry.
Link to this answerIt disappears immediately when current affiliation no longer matches the granting Religion. The new Religion never grants one automatically.
Link to this answerExactly one Survival effect, one Combat effect and one Gathering/economic effect from developer-defined catalogues.
Link to this answerFive choices in each of three categories produce 5 × 5 × 5 = 125 canonical combinations.
Link to this answerNo. Players select identities from approved lists. Developers own formulas, values, multipliers, durations, rounding and balance versions.
Link to this answerNo. It begins with no configured package, so its consecrated Altars cannot dispense one until authorized in-game configuration succeeds.
Link to this answerEvery successful configuration, including the first, starts a Religion-global 30-real-world-day cooldown. Manager or leadership changes cannot bypass it.
Link to this answerNo. Existing applied Blessings retain their old snapshot until expiry, replacement, affiliation loss or another terminal condition. Only new acquisitions use the new package.
Link to this answerStrength and duration follow Chapel < Church < Great Church < Cathedral. Exact numbers are developer-balanced; ceremony availability remains identical at every tier.
Link to this answerVitality increases maximum Health; Endurance maximum Stamina; Recovery natural Health recovery; Resilience reduces environmental/survival penalties; Sustenance slows Hunger/Thirst growth if that survival consumer exists.
Link to this answerMight increases melee damage; Precision ranged effectiveness; Fortitude reduces incoming physical damage; Vigor reduces combat-action Stamina cost; Swiftness slightly increases attack/action speed.
Link to this answerSuccessful basic raw world-resource gathering such as mining, woodcutting, quarrying, clay extraction, farming harvest and wild foraging. Fishing is excluded.
Link to this answerAppropriate resource yield from animals under the canonical Livestock and Hunting systems.
Link to this answerFirst-stage Processing of raw resources, such as applicable smelting, stonecutting, sawing, milling and tanning. It excludes finished-product crafting.
Link to this answerMaterial efficiency for finished crafted products such as weapons, armor, tools, clothing and Blueprints. It does not improve speed, quality, durability or coin price.
Link to this answerSuccessful fishing catch, yield or quantity only. Fishing deliberately has its own Blessing rather than belonging to Harvest.

Extinction & Former Churches
The zero-follower transition and what happens to linked organizations and property.No. The 100-signatory threshold is only for founding. Any positive authoritative living/current follower count keeps an Active Religion alive.
Link to this answerImmediately and irreversibly when its authoritative current living-follower count reaches zero. There is no grace period, timer, Leader override or founder exception.
Link to this answerNo. Agnostic is the permanent built-in unaffiliated state. Zero-follower Extinction applies only to player-founded organized Religions.
Link to this answerEach becomes ineligible to remain active and archives through the Institution-owned workflow, closing its own membership, leadership, Communication and diplomacy while preserving history.
Link to this answerThey deconsecrate immediately. Religion ownership, ceremonies, Blessings, access, management, Local Manager appointments and exemptions end.
Link to this answerIts containing Settlement government inherits it, with the current Mayor exercising municipal management. Canon does not invent automatic Count ownership when a valid municipal owner exists.
Link to this answerIt remains physically present but Unconsecrated and government-owned. Normal taxes and prospective maintenance return; old Religion ceremonies, Blessings and management stop.
Link to this answerYes. Its authorized municipal owner may consecrate it to another Active organized Religion, transferring ownership and Inventory. The Building type and historical record do not change.
Link to this answerThe Building cannot remain in wilderness and is destroyed immediately. Its Universal Building Inventory enters the normal collapse-style Loot Chest lifecycle; protection depends on whether a valid owner survives, and truly ownerless contents become public immediately.

Public Information & Status
What public Religion presentation should communicate without exposing private authority state.Public systems may show its identity, status, governance, doctrine, sacred presentation, configured hierarchy and other information canon explicitly classifies as public. Private management data and authorization are not inferred.
Link to this answerThe saved configured hierarchy, rank names, descriptions and declared permissions have public presentation. This does not prove ordinary-follower assignment or runtime authorization is already operational.
Link to this answerYes. Public Religion presentation should show its current Survival, Combat and Gathering/economic choices, or state that no Blessing is configured. Exact values follow game presentation rules.
Link to this answerAuthorized Religion management must eventually list owned consecrated Buildings, including type, local name, Town/location and current Local Manager. Public exposure beyond canonical public facts is not assumed.
Link to this answerYes. Extinction is a permanent historical state rather than deletion. Its former affiliations, leadership, Buildings and other durable history are not erased.

Future Systems & Boundaries
What Religion V1 intentionally does not claim or simulate.No. Commoners have no Religion affiliation in V1; Religion is a player-Character system. Churches do not simulate Commoner congregations, faith percentages or worship demand.
Link to this answerNo. There is no proximity faith aura, automatic conversion, passive follower growth or territorial faith-control percentage. Growth comes from explicit player joining.
Link to this answerNo. Blessings are grounded game-mechanical benefits. Religion V1 does not define miracles, visible divine intervention, spellcasting, resurrection, magical projectiles or supernatural beings.
Link to this answerNo. Religion status creates no automatic Warfare, attack permission, Justice jurisdiction, criminal punishment or territorial control.
Link to this answerPossibly only through a later canonical amendment. They are not additional V1 types today and may currently appear only as custom names or thematic language.
Link to this answerNo. Effect identities and tier ordering are canonical, while exact numerical values, durations, rounding and balance versions remain developer-controlled implementation data.
Link to this answerNo. The Atlas explains finalized canon. Founding hierarchy and affiliation foundations are proven, but Join/Leave, apostasy, the 26-permission catalogue, religious Buildings, ceremonies, Altars and Blessings still include substantial implementation-pending work.
